The European Championship 2024 in Dortmund, Germany is about to be decided. The European Championship, which gathers the 32 best players from this year’s European Tour events, will now boil down to one winner. The European Championship winner will be crowned in Westfalenhalle between October 24-27. The reigning champion is Peter Wright.
The European Championship, or Dart-EM as it’s also called, is a tournament that gathers the 32 best players from this year’s European Tour events. Based on the results from these thirteen European Tour events, the players have collected ranking points and qualified for this tournament.
Martin Schindler, the highest-ranked player ahead of the tournament, has two wins from this year’s European Tour. Second on the list is Luke Humphries, followed by Luke Littler.
The format for the European Championship is a classic knockout tournament, where the highest-ranked player meets the lowest-ranked player. The first round is played in the best of 11 legs, then the matches in the second round and the quarterfinals become longer, with the best of 19 legs. The semifinals and final are decided in the best of 21 legs.
