It was set up to be a true dream final as rising star Luke Littler, who has taken the dart world by storm, faced off against Michael van Gerwen, a player many consider one of the greatest of all time in darts. But there was never any doubt about the outcome. Luke Littler dominated Van Gerwen and won the final 7-3.

Exactly one year ago, Luke Littler entered Alexandra Palace as a 16-year-old and, to many, an unknown dart player. A few weeks later, his world had completely changed, and he had shaken up the entire sport. Littler made it to a sensational World Championship final but was defeated by Luke Humphries. However, the 2024 World Championship marked the beginning of an unparalleled year in the dart world. Luke Littler climbed the world rankings at record speed and won tournament after tournament.

Now, one year later, Luke Littler stands as the world champion. As the youngest player ever, Littler can now call himself the best dart player in the world.

The Dart World Championship 2025 final was never as exciting as many had anticipated and hoped. Littler never allowed Michael van Gerwen to get into the match. He quickly pulled away, leading 4-0 after the first four sets. It wasn’t until the fifth set that Michael van Gerwen won his first set, reducing the score to 4-1.

However, Michael van Gerwen never got closer than trailing by three sets. Littler kept MVG comfortably at a distance throughout the match and eventually secured the win at 7-3.

Luke Littler’s victory means he is now ranked second in the world behind Luke Humphries and also takes home the £500,000 prize money.
